i had the original pass door glass with its window sticker from a yenko delivered 66 425 that saw lots of scca racing. the sticker was glued on rather sloppily. looked like a 3" pint brush dipped in mastic. there was excess mastic beyond the borders of the sticker so i assume the glass got the mastic then the paper window sticker.there was a smaller piece of paper with Sillow Run inked on it. it too was applied with a glue mopf some sorts to the glass. both glass and stickers were given to the current owner of the old 66.the car is currently being restored . mike

First, for NCRS judging the window sticker isn't required. Our rules are to present cars as originally built at the factory (absent owner/dealer inspired option additions/deletions) AND as delivered to the original owner with then current dealer prep.

Typically, dealer prep included removal of the sticker because they hindered driver visibility. So, the degree of sticker originality as well as means of attachment to the car are non-issue details at NCRS.

But, Bloomington has slightly different rules and they DO judge the presense/absence of the window sticker. It was many moons ago that I took my '65 to Bloomington for Certification judging. At that time the judges wanted to see the window sticker without any covering protection (plastic wrapped) AND they were looking for it's attachment by way of 'rubber cement' type adhesive (lines or 'bloches') and NOT double sided Scotch tape.

Those standards may change with specific model year and/or today's judging standards there...

John, What year did that window sticker come off of and was it glued to the inside or outside? Thanks

If a car is to appear at judging "as delivered" to the customer, the window sticker is supposed to be on the window. The small print at the bottom of the sticker even states this.

              Mike,
Good eye and catch, are you an attorney?

1965 - The glue is on the face of the sticker, the back is clean, so it was on the inside of the glass.

If we want to discuss "as delivered"; every new car I have bought has had the sticker removed and placed in the glove box. I worked at dealers in the '80s and we always removed them. Maybe it was different in the '60's.

I even remember a few "collector" cars like pace cars and MC SS's where the buyer had the window replaced prior to delivery so he could keep the sticker on the glass.

                  Stan -

That's a '65 sticker, and it appears to be a Zone Office re-type or replacement, possibly due to a dealer trade. The original had the last six digits of the VIN rubber-stamped (the sticker was printed several days before the car was built, and the VIN was unknown at that time).

I never noticed that, good catch, must have been part of the "Monroney" law.

"In the United States, all new automobiles are required to include an official form listing certain information about the car; this window sticker is commonly called a Monroney sticker in the industry (or simply a window sticker), named after Almer Stillwell "Mike" Monroney, United States Senator from Oklahoma. Monroney sponsored the Automobile Information Disclosure Act of 1958, which mandated disclosure of information on new automobiles.
The sticker is required to be affixed to the side window or windshield of every new car sold in the United States and can only be removed by the consumer (Chapter 28, Sections 1231-1233, Title 15 of the United States Code). A fine of up to US$1,000 per vehicle plus one year in jail for each offense is authorized if the sticker is missing. The act does not apply to vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of more than 8500 pounds (3856 kg).
The sticker must include the following information:
The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP)
                      Engine and transmission specifications
                      Standard equipment and warranty details
                      Optional equipment and pricing
City and highway fuel economy ratings, as determined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
As of September 2007, crash test ratings as determined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration"

Many dealership employees should be government guests.
