    A/C box

Is the outer box on the firewall gloss black or semi for a 67 with A/C?

    Thanks

Hmmm .. over 5 hrs and nobody answers ? Well let me tell you that the '65 TIM&JG calls for a glossy black A/C evaporator housing, so I took a rag with Varsol to a small part of mine, and sure enough. Could be different for '67, though (but I doubt it).

Is this what you're looking for?

      1967 TIMJG, 4th Edition, Page 120:
"The evaporator housing is a two piece metal stamping painted semi-gloss black mounted on the right side firewall".

        Jeremy,

I have two AC boxes. One, a 63 has been removed from the car and a 67 that has never been out of the car.

These boxes are one of those dipped parts it would seem. At least the 63 shows signs of runs and is completely painted inside and outside.

The intent was to have them gloss black but as we all know from pulleys, braces and other dipped parts they can run from gloss black to flat black. These parts are affected by humidity, viscosity, age and many other factors when they were painted.

On a dry day with fresh paint in the vat the parts were gloss and then who knows what the color was later in the week.
