Re: NCRS question
i was recently advised my dipstick tube was incorrect because it was a natural finish instead of a semi-gloss black finish - my 4th edition of the judging manual says unfinished - but the second printing says semi-gloss black does anyone know what it should be to meet NCRS requirements? I have a 327/350 L79 motor Thanks Jim

Re: NCRS question
The most recent edition is the second printing of the 4th edition, Winter 2005, identified that way on the inside of the front cover. The first printing of the 4th edition just has "4th Edition" on the inside of the front cover, with no date. The Second Printing has been the only version available for several years.- Top

Re: NCRS question
Because it was an interim update (with yellow pages where updates were made), not a complete re-issue of a new edition. Front and back cover on both is red.- Top

Re: NCRS question
just because the judging guide says so doesn't make it right, they do make errors from time to time and need to be corrected. Don't follow the pack regardless of what the guide says, better to be right than follow the herdMichael

Re: NCRS question
It's a learning process as we go along. There are many sources of information, including observations of known-original cars and Star/Bowtie candidate cars during judging as educational tools. No single car is an adequate sample to justify a change.- Top

Re: NCRS question
Chuck - i am really new at how to reply to threads so i might be doing this wrong - but here is what is real confusing (mind you i am not complaining) is i worked off a 4th edition for the chapter meet in Howey and points were deducted for our tube being natural and that is where the whole issue came up - we left natural - and at the regional in Kissmmee was told the NEW 4th edition 2nd printing shows semi gloss black for the tube - so you guessed it a deduction. I left our handle natural with the black tip plug in the end of the finger hole. somehow maybe NCRS can shoot out a bulletin with the updates - even b4 a new printing comes out.
Maybe you should take them both to the Nationals, use one and wire the other one to the manifold.
Jim, GOOD LUCK AT THE NATIONAL!!!- Top
