Eckler's has discontinued this shield, part number 51581. Anyone know who else may sell this item?

Recall?? Surely you jest??
It took me a while, but if you have Issue #187 -- May/June 2009 page 90 has a 1/3-page add for the product.
Edit add: I see by your membership number you might not have that issue. If that is the case, PM me or send me a private email and I'll send you the information. Monday I can scan the page and send it to you if you send me your email address privately.
This ad references the availability of the part at Eckler's, so perhaps production has ceased. The ad does have contact information for the seller, so at the minimum you will be able to find out the whole story.Terry- Top

My brother must've bought one of the last ones then. But when he opened the box and inspected it, his words were something like "$39 for a piece of sheet metal?????"Looked like it would be a piece of cake to make one. I ought to have one on my Corvette too so I think I will.

Re: Where can you buy an air conditioning compressor pulley shield?
Terry and Phil, the shield is pretty easy to make. Years ago I posted here on how I made mine, I tried looking in the archives of my post and have so far went up to page 96 looking.
Anyway I made mine for my 1970 out of what I found in my garage.
Took two pieces of what I call strap metal for the braces. Drilled a hole in each end of the two pieces and mounted them on my air conditioner compressor. Just looking at the compressor you can figure out where you want the straps to mount.
Then I put a 90 degree bend in each and cut them where I wanted in length that would extend over the compressor pulley.
Drilled two holes in each brace to install rivets.
Used some aluminum flashing, cut it and rounded the corners. Rivetted the flashing to the braces and I had a shield.
Painted it black on both sides and it has been on the 1970 for a number of years now.
Really a very easy project. A person could get fancy by buying a sheet of stainless steel or aluminum for fabrication. The thin aluminum flashing was very inexpensive since I already had it and has held up well.- Top
