I suspect the vendors on CF did not like the fact I posted on how jobs should be done, complained because they don't build them like I do so CF then wanted me to pay them $275 a month. That would allow me to continue to post tech threads there, supporting their site. I'm a hobbyist and take the time to build the best unit anywhere, time is not a consideration and I only use the best parts. So I guess I wasn't kicked off, I just didn't want to be strong-armed into paying monthly fees.
    Gary,
I also enjoy reading your articles and go to Digitalcorvettes to see them. And from someone that has seen your results first hand, YOU ARE DEAD ON WITH YOUR ADVICE!! Apparently the "powers to be" don't know you the way the rest of us do. If they did they would realize the mistake they are making. As the saying goes, "they're crapping in their mess kit". I've gotten a couple viruses in the past 6 months or so but didn't know for sure where they came from, now maybe I do. Since the CF traded hands here a while back they've certainly had their problems, and not all externally.
    Take care,
    Shooter

I have had continual problems on CF. I have had most of the problems mentioned and can't afford to get a virus. To bad I like alot of the people over there. Joe

I agree I like alot of the people over there also. But I can't afford any more problems due to thier web site. I took it off my favorite list, I am done. Tom Stanton #41491

Just recently I had my first and last experience with them. They're all about the business of corvettes and not the enthusiast. Given their "store" there doesn't seem to be any doubt that they're commercially owned. It appears they are owned by Internet Brands out of El Segundo

Most sites make money by the number of visitors which draws advertisers. They want to make their money on the visitors and the advertisers. They haven't learned yet that without visitors there will be no advertisers.

Here's a list of auto sites Internet Brands owns:

i was kicked off for pointing out that a item for your corvette a supporting vendor was selling was available from the chevy dealer for free.

Re: Corvette Forum Problem logging on?

Maybe it's time to give a competitor site a little traffic. I participate in Team Chevelle and Team Camaro (chevelles.com and camaros.net) respectively and they seem to be more "friendly" than corvetteforum.com.

The company that runs Team Chevelle and Team Camaro also has a Corvette site corvette-forum.com. The traffic is a little light on their site so maybe we could help out their momentum by posting some of the non-restoration items there.

                Just food or thought,

I was warned because I disagreed with a vendor about HID lights so I mostly read there and limit any posting.

early this morning my wife went the USA newspaper site and something started downloading on the computer she was using. A file had been corrupted and reported by zone alarm. Could not get any other programs, could not get out, the computer was shut down. Scanning over and having resistance getting network connection to work, shows connected and no action to connect to a site.

                      Ted,
I agree with you, it has become to commercialized.
I have been a member of CF since it started, now a supporting member, and it has gone downhill since Internet Brands bought it.
It was an excellent site when Troy ran it.

Last week I also caught a virus from the Forum and it crashed the computer in my garage which is used solely to log onto the forum while working on my Vette. The one in my office also crashed at the same time and the common link was that I used both on the CF just before the crash. Was able to restore one and not the other.
Sad to see what was once such a valuable resource with really great people on it, go downhill this way.
                      Kurt

Re: Corvette Forum Problem logging on?

I see several references above to 'catching a virus' from the CF site. I suppose some actually mean 'downloading a trojan' which is quite different.

Could someone that has experienced this event please advise the name of virus/trojan, the name of the protection software they are running and what they had to do to remove it.

Has anyone contacted CF and advised them of this issue?

I drop in over there every day, and have never "caught" anything, and have never even had any warnings from my Norton (which does a full system scan every day). Norton never misses an opportunity to let you know it's saved your computer from nuclear meltdown, and it has never said anything while logged on at CF.
