I can't believe my luck sometimes....

The 56 passenger car engine that came with my 56 Corvette has the correct 56-57 Corvette oil pan on it.

I guess the previous owner used the oil pan from the original engine.

Too cool.

Ed....check the casting numbers and date on your Heads and intake manifold as well as your exhaust manifolds....you may have some more luck...Happy Holidays

Same happened here....Passenger car replacement was a short block

I got one correct exhaust manifold (557) and the correct distributor (872). The passenger car engine (FB suffix) has 306 heads and the engine has a 58 single four barrel intake on it.

OK, now the question.....does a 1956 Corvette single four barrel engine use a passenger car (4 quart) or Corvette (5 quart) oil pan?

My March 1, 1957 past manual seems to indicate that all Corvette engines used the 5 quart pan.
