    FX3 Bilstein Shock Question

I'm back to trying to address the reinstallation of the FX3 suspension in my 1991. I located an original set of shocks from a 30,000 mile car but the guy I'm buying them from noticed something strange when he put this set against another set he had. This set is 1 1/2" longer than the other set. I don't have my original shocks to measure so my question is did these shocks come in 2 sizes and what length is correct for a stock 91?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Scoot on over to zr1netregistry.com and do a search. The FX3 suspension is a frequent topic there and this may have been answered already. If not, do a post. Mine are installed, so I really can't help you, other than I know the 90 and 91 were the same and had a different actualtor than later models.

Perhaps there is a difference in the shock dimensions between an FX3, a Z07 and the ZR1 ??????

Glen, didnt the shocks accuator motor turn the top of the shock to a different valving in the shock which could be the reason the shock releases to a higher position out of the car?

          Tom:

I don't think so. The GM engineer who tuned shocks told me that the FX3 shocks on my '92 Z07 weren't tuned for the stiff springs...

            Ed,

I hadn't thought about it but that could well be the case. I'll get with the seller and have him try it.

            I appreciate the help,

            Glen
