    TI distributors

What internal differences are there between TI distributors and regular Corvette tach-drive pointgsw distributors? I realoize the pick-up coil is different and the "rotor" is quite different. What else? The bodies are identical, aren't they? How about the shafts?
    Thanks!

Body is the same as conventional distributor. Isn't the rotating trigger piece part of the shaft? It has been a long time since I had mine apart. The shaft will not have the lobes for the point block to rub on. The auto cam at the top (football shape) may be different as well.

      Mike,

I would suggest going on Dave Fiedler's website. He explains the magnetic pulse transistorized distributors pretty well. TISpecialty.com

The body's are identical, the main shafts (except auto cam) are identical. The weight base/cam (rotating pole piece) is different along with pick up coil and brass spacer underneith.

The weights and springs are interchangable between points and TI distributors for particular curve.

Mike, greeting from AZ, I wondered the same, so i bought a passenger car TI and converted a tach drive points distributor to TI, everything bolted up perfectly and fit just like i hoped it would, saved bunch of $$ to boot.
