    1966 L-36 with Powerglide

Does anyone out there possess, have seen, or have heard of an original 1966 L-36 with Powerglide? The option was added during the model year, but I don't know how many were actually built.

    Joe -

The M35 ECL chart in the 1966 chapter in Noland's book shows that twenty L-36/Powerglide cars were built.

When I lived in PA I knew a guy who had one. Nassau Blue coupe, L-36 and Powerglide. Very original car down to the dated hose clamps.

That was 15 years ago. I have no idea if he still owns it.

Many years ago I located and purchased 2 NOS GM torque converters, GM #3834108, for 1966 Corvettes with L-36 and Powerglide. At the time, I was not sure if any of these cars were even built. However, the torque converters are also applicable to 63-66 passenger car with 396 or 409 and Powerglide as well as 1966 Chevelle with 396 and Powerglide.

The really strange thing here is that 1967 Corvettes with L-36 and Powerglide used a different torque converter. That torque converter was never supercessive to the 3834108 and the 3834108 was never supercessive to it. I've never been able to determine just what the differences are between these converters.

Now, don't ask me why I purchased these converters. I guess it was just because I found them. But, now that I have them, I don't really want to part with them, of course.
