You might check the Atlanta Craigslist from time to time. The last few months I have seen, what I assume the same guy, pop up with NOS parts from the 50's and 60's. It caught my eye because I know how hard it has been to find parts for my 70 and all the good stuff is suddenly appearing for years prior to mine. I've been amazed that the stuff even exists anymore, guess someone is digging deeper in their basement as the economy gets worse.

I tripped over this chain so I have to ask my esteemed collegues where would I get a heater box and core for a 55 corvette? I have a very early 56 (#76)and I just picked up a 55 heater and a correct shut off valve. But looking at it it would apprear it may mount partially on the outside where the flapper is on normal 56-57's? on my firewall thereby making my heater box completely unuasable. The Car is suppoed to have a 55 heater in it so where in the heck do I get a heater box? or find the plans to build one?

            Bryan,

Photos of an early 56 with 55 heater attached.

You might check with some of the 53-5 Restorers such as NCRS member Steve Newsom (281) 413-0028

Not about 55's but this subject was mentioned, something new in new surgery. http://www.jacksonsun.com/article/20...e-replacements

i thank you..dont know whether to laugh or cry. looks like the heater is where the flapper was mounted later,,, I got the shut off figured out..looks like i may have to fabricate a heater box eventually...sometimes youre better off leaving well enough alone huh?

                  Bryan,

Roy Braatz, the originator of this thread, was working on the revision of 53-55 Judging Manual. He violated some rules at a judging event some time ago and treated harshly, which he resented and left NCRS. He is over on Corvette Forum and you should contact him with your questions. I'm sure that he would be glad to help.
