When was the car actually built

I am having trouble understanding when my '62 car was actually "built".
Lots of date codes on individual parts and pieces but how do I know the exact day it was built and drove off the line? What am I missing here? I have the month of November from the TIMJG but would like to know the actual day. How do I determine that?

We need to know the actual vin number. In November 1961, beginning and ending VIN numbers are 2065 and 3465. So 1400 cars were made in the month. The 11-61 calander shows 11-1 is a Wednesday. That leaves 21 days (Monday to Friday shift) less Thanksgiving day. My best guess is 19 to 20 working days, or about 70 cars per day.

I think you can do the math from here and see where your car fits.

      Here is the VIN 20867S102550.
I'll do the math but was hoping to get the exact day some how.
      Thanks.

        Dave -

The "Birthday Book" puts that car at November 10th.

David, there is no way to get an exact day. You can get close with birthday calculators but unless you have the paperwork that rode off the line with the car you will never know. Also, there could have been a Saturday schedule or a Sunday schedule.

As an example my 63 was built, I have the doc., on April 20th which is a Saturday. Most Birthday calculators will calculate Friday the 19th.

Use the date that John just posted, it's as good as you can get.

The 'Birthday Book", available from the NCRS store shows 62-#2550 as being built on Friday November 10, 1961. The above "formula" is what was pretty much used to get the dates in the book, and I have seen it be off by a day sometimes. Not unusual for a calculated number. this is about as close as I think you will get without a lot of research.

Re: When was the car actually built

              OK, November 10th of 1961.
Do I need higher security clearance to find out what the "birthday book" is and to get a look at it?
              Thanks for the date.
Doing the math puts me around Nov. 8th.
              So much for modern math!

Re: When was the car actually built

Thank you all. This is what I am looking for. Some sort of documentation to go in my file for the car.
I didn't think of the registry. I had already registered the car there.
Interesting side note: I have a brother who has a November 10th birthday. Not the brother who owned the car but interesting none the less.
Thanks again for the help all.
