    1967 435 Push Rods

I am rebuilding the engine in my 67 435 & when I went to order the push rods they had 3 different length's. I gust want the GM stock ones. what length should they be.
    THANKS KEN

    Ken,

I would suggest measuring what the pushrod length should be using a pushrod length checker. They're available from Comp Cams and others. I may have gotten mine from Summit Racing. Measure the proper length, get the ones that match. That way your valvetrain geometry is correct, avoiding problems down the road. Custom lengths are also available if you should need it.

The original pushrods for your application were as follows:

      intake-----GM #3864907-----8.22" OL

      exhaust----GM #3864908-----9.19" OL

Both of the above, as well as 2 supercessive part numbers for each, are GM-discontinued. However, equivalent or better pushrods are available from aftermarket sources. The above pushrods were 3/8" OD.

It's not a bad idea to use a pushrod length checker as Joe R. suggests. Pushrod length requirement can be affected by block or head machining as well as head gasket thickness. Generally, though, if you use heads with about a 0.015" cut (assuming no prior cuts) in conjunction with composition type head gaskets of about 0.040" thickness, the stock length pushrods are what you're going to need.

i would not worry about a push rod length checker unless you have longer than stock valves and or a higher than stock lift cam. cutting the head just to true it up will cause no problems
