latest 56-7 judging manual states, on p 63, that "FI fuel filter uses STEEL flare nut fittings(note plural) , not brass". i agree the straight fitting is steel but never seen a steel 90 degree fitting. your thoughts? thanks, mike

Re: 57 FI fuel filter fittings
HI Doc, From my experience in seeing a ton of original 57 FI filter assemblies I agree with your thoughts 100%.
There are two fittings on the FI fuel filter for 57. The straight one is 1/8"pipe 5/16" . It's cad plated steel. You didn't ask or say but it's the identical fitting used for the fuel meter cover inlet. Both of those straight fittings are cadmium plated steel.
Now the 90 degree fitting is BRASS. Not plated brass or plated steel. Just bare brass. Meanwhile that is not an easy fitting to find today. Yes you can buy one that looks like the original but the newer 90's are much larger and therefore almost impossible to install.
Recap: Inlet and outlet fittings on the 57 -58 FI fuel filter. Straight one is plated steel. 90 degree one is bare brass. JD
(ever wonder why a typical PC keyboard doesn't have a degree symbol. If so where is it?- Top

Re: 57 FI fuel filter fittings
The degree symbol is found in the system tools, character map. Most of the time you can insert by pressing the alt key 0176. For some reason this Sony craptop I am using will not let me copy/paste from the character map (I get ?? when I paste) nor will the alt0176 work??Dick Whittington- Top
