    Kissimmiee Weather

    I know you all have access to weather information, but thought I'd post for those so busy getting ready for the trip that they didn't check:

    Most days are expected to be either partly sunny or partly cloudy, highs ranging from 74 to 77 degrees, lows from 55 to 63 degrees. Only Thursday looks possible for scattered T-Storms at 40% (down here thems good odds they'll miss ya). Friday shows 20% chance of precip, Saturday 10%, and Sunday at 20% (all good odds).

    Come on down and enjoy!

    Speaking of weather, this is our first time to the Winter Regional and I was wondering what happens if it does rain? Is there a backup or do we just make the best of it

    Thanks,
    Chuck

      Chuck;

      Not sure what you mean by "a backup". I can't speak for the Adminstration of the Florida Chapter, but I can tell you what I think:

      These are cars. Even though we don't like to get them wet in the rain or exposed to road grime from driving, they are supposed to be for all weather. As I said, the weather odds are actually quite good and the chances of getting rained on are slim. If it does T-Storm, after you cover your car, get yourself to a safe indoor place like the Blue Max and have a beer.

      You can expect at least some dew at night where the cars will get wet, even with a cover, as they will have condensed moisture form under neath your cover. That's the extent of winter in central Florida. Just come prepared to wipe down your car in the morning, or what ever method you prefer. Remember, the judges know the conditions and they don't judge you on the amount of dust or residue from the ambient conditions, and I don't recall there being a hndy car wash on site.

      Lastly, there are no indoor protections available for the cars. We're all in the same boat (so to speak).

        Thanks Stu. Im not really worried about it but rather curious as what the options were. I wouldnt think the judges would want to be crawling all over the cars while its raining

        The Blue Max sounds like a good solution to me!

        Thanks again,
        Chuck

          Chuck:

          The winter rain storms in Florida are different from what we get. The weather moves, and the rain usually doesn't last all day, 1 to 2 hours at the worst has been my experience in the winter. Although it tends to be cloudier than in the summer. If it rains find an indoor exhibit, or a cold beer like Stu said. Also, if you do get a rain shower check the weather radar before you wipe it down, there's usually more than one in the area.

            Well the rain forecasts sound better than where I'll be coming from. It is predicted that 3 big storms will be coming to Scottsdale. Probably a good year to sell boats at Barrett-Jackson . ................See you in Kissimmee, rain or shine

              The judging goes on nonetheless.

                Stu has pretty much hit the weather on the head as far as I can tell.I think the rain is going to hold off till later in the day on Thursday so if you are in and parked it won't be bad. Then Fridays rain is supposed to be early in the morning. I am driving my 08 and I don't like that in the rain either but I don't think it will be bad. I carry one of those hagertys bags they give away with all kind of cleaning supplies so I can clean er up if need be. They usually have a place almost to the end by the kiide rides where there is a hose and water to clean up if need be.Tom Stanton

                  Tom;

                  My son came over the other day to pick up metric wrenches from me for some last minute projects on his 96 G.S.. He found out he has a metric car now, not like his former 78 P.C.'s, and all he had was sockets. Welcome to the new world! Guess he's touching up his front spoiler and had to remove it to take it into the shop. That car is a beauty, and he got it on E-Bay for about 10k less than the going average rate - can't lose.

                  Not sure which days I'll drive over in the 63. Guess I'll just watch the predictions closer. I'm usually a zero percent chance taker, because I can be living so close. But I have gone to the Old Town cruise on a night with 70% chance to meet a friend from CA there (only got some sprinkles on the way over). Otherwise, I wait for my windows.

                    You get wet. Won't be the first time I have judged cars in the rain. Unbrellas are at a premium on days like that.

                      Well, it's bound to be better than the 32 degrees and frost we had last year! We couldn't judge paint until the frost was thawed from the cars.

                        Thankfully the Regional wasn't 2 weeks ago when we were in the 30's for a week or so. That was not fun. I had to buy a heater for my shop. Unusual Florida weather.

                        I too have been watching the forecast as I'll be driving the 63 to Kissimmee and spending the entire time at the event as well. It appears it will be gorgeous weather for those of us able to attend.

                          Just heard they found 2 dead Manatees in the Indian river and that they probably died due to hypothermia (cold) last week. Yes, it is looking better like low 80's by Thursday. Now if they would just take the rain out of the forecast that would make it perfect. Actually, they now call for scattered showers as opposed to T-Storms on Thursday. we're gettin there.
