Re: Business Must Be Good
Mike I to recently had a return issue ,its was a small item, I purchases a shim kit for my 72 car and it did not come with the correct amount of washers in the package, and I sent a email to them, the result was that through there extensive researh of there supplier that it was correct number, which the kit came with 4 washers which is correct for 68-69 but not 72 ,which should of had 8 washers in the kit. so I had to send back. My say in all of this if your going to do something right in the repro market try to do it as correct as possiable.after all thats what most of us want.
And by the way corvette central and others do sell kits with the correct number of washer and for less money, I did have to refinish the shims which were suppose to be blk. phosphate.but everything elese was correct.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: Business Must Be Good
I have purchased quite a lot of parts from them ( Paragon) and find the quality very good.on most items. There have been an occassional problem, but I was able to resolve it without any hassle. I have used other vendors with similar results. None are perfect. Jim- Top

Re: Business Must Be Good
Some time ago, I ordered a stainless gas line from them. It was received crimped as the result of poor packaging. They denied any responsibility but agreed to send a new one. The new one was crimped as well and they accused me of mishandling it and denied any further responsibility. They no longer get any of my business.- Top

Re: Business Must Be Good
I would suggest that Paragon does not make or have made this "shelf" specifically for them. They're avaliable from several places on the web; Paragon just happens to have them too. I'd highly suspect that they buy it from someone else and resell it. As such, the lady is probably right - all the ones they have in stock are just as bad.
Does that make poor quality "right?" No, but I don't think that they're specifically to blame for this product. They probably can't send you a better one because they don't have a better one in stock, and the company that imports them doesn't consider quality as highly as you do.

Re: Business Must Be Good
I agree with James, I've done a lot of business with Paragon and have always been taken care of. Yes problems arise but nothing that doesn't happen at other places as well. Last time I checked they were one of the few giving a NCRD member a discount. As with any vendor a lot depends on the person you talking to at the time and a lot depends on your approach to the problem. I've found that the besy way to solve a problem is to politely hang up and call back and ask to talk to a superviser or the boss themselves. People in business know that there is a lot of compition out there and can't afford to make people mad. Remember the old honey and vinegar approach.

Re: Business Must Be Good
I had a quality problem with a rather expensive fan blade - spoke to the owner twice and was told that they did not do enough volume on the item to try and force the Company making them to improve the quality. I said then as I say now ( why handle a product that is not up to your usual quality? especially if you don't do alot of volume on the item to begin with? ) I was told that Corvette owners always wanted their cars to look perfect. When I sent the first blade back, based on the owner telling me what they had in stock looked alot better, I added a couple of items on to make it more worth their while. Should have known better to add items, never got my postage back for returning the first blade. Guess how many parts I ordered from Paragon since then?

Re: Business Must Be Good
It is. I am still waiting for that return call relative to the A-post weather strip they are to correct. My rotted originals are NO WAY the same as the part they are selling, higher at the mucket area, longer by 3/4", one side too short - air gap and the other too long - sticking out.
Issue is they and others won't say who they are buying from - so I have to try 3 times to get a correct pair at $100? I don't think so...- Top

Most likely Corvette Rubber. http://www.corvette-rubber.com/
AFAIK, it's only them and Metro Molded parts that make Corvette weatherstrips in any numbers.
check both links and see who sells the one you have.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: Business Must Be Good
I have had very good service from Paragon. I have ordered many, many parts and only have had to return one defective part. I had no problem getting my money refunded. In fact after I called them to tell them about my problem, they called me a few weeks later to ask why I had not shipped the the part back to them yet!

Re: Business Must Be Good
Dave,
I have had the same experience with Paragon and Corvette World. I got a call back from both of these companies after returning an item. I have been ordering mid year parts for a long time and when I was helping a friend with a 72 they called to see if I ordered the right parts since it wasn't my 66.
I hate to hear of a problem with a company that has always been great at customer service with me.- Top

Re: Business Must Be Good
I was vary pleased with all the purchases I made through Paragon. Was every part dead nuts perfect? I can't say that, but they were always there to help and, respond, replace or what ever it took. So I am very happy with them. I first started buying all my parts from Zip. I had a problem with one of the parts and was told that the owner would call me. Of course he NEVER did. I made a second call with the same reguest, and it has been 2 yrs. now waiting for that call. As I am waiting to roll up my sleeves on a restoration of a '58, I know one vendor I will not be calling. I also had very good luck with Corvette Specialties. When a vendor treats me well, I respond with like treatment. Treat me bad and the same applies.- Top
