    Shock Paint

I have been searching the archives for shock paint and found where a couple of different paints were recomened but I need more info on them. One paint was called " NEW FORD GRAY" by Krylon and Plastikote. I have searched there websites nand cannot find them. Does anyone have a code number for this paint for either of the brands or both. Also Duplicolor paint called FORD GRAY DE1611. Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sheldon

    Sheldon:

Quanta Products, Long Island Corvette Supply, Paragon, and others have the correct shock paint in stock. I would just order from one of them, rather than search out something local that may or may not be satisfactory.

The shipping cost more than the paint. If someone can suggest a color that can be purchased locally, it would cost less.

Many auto parts stores in my locale stock Duplicolor paint, I think Auto Zone is one of those. If they stock Duplicolor paint they should be able to order the paint you desire if they don't already stock it provided the manufacturer still makes that color.

I would just get some from Quanta if it was simple and resonable but living in Canada with shipping would cost a small fortune. I went out looking today and found the duplicolor de1611, then the Plasticote " New Ford Gray" and also the Krylon "New Ford gray". Then I went and compared with the shocks on my 65 which were painted with paint from i think Corvette Central quite a few years ago. The duplicolor appears the closest but not sure how correct they are. Has anyone used the duplicolor and had judging on them. Did they pass or has anyone compared with original shocks. The plastcoat appears to be to light and not enough bluish color in it.

            Sheldon,

I will take one of my originals to a paint shop next Monday (after Kissimmee) and get a single stage DuPont color match for you.

Then you can get a pint made in CAN and spray it.
