C1 heater hose kink?????

When I run the two hoses thru the bracket that goes beneath the generator, the one going to the water pump kinks up. I have looked in the aim and the judging manual and cannot see what I'm doing wrong.
Anybody else have this problem?

Junior, sometimes I find that the hoses have a natural bend when there installed into the boxes they unroll them from, its helps to use the natural bend of the hose to help make a tight cornor, you may have to undo one end and rotate the hose.

I appreciate your reply but I'm afraid that's not doing it. This thing is driving me crazy.

Junior, were the hoses on the car pre molded or just out of the box and cut to length?,another problem I see with the heater hoses the tend to flatten out if they been sitting to long compressed in the box, there are also different qualitys of hoses. I think once the hose is kinked you may have a problem trying to get it straight again,cold weather may also hamper making the bends,

There may be another solution this would not be a ncrs type fix, but the use to a heater hose with a wire that is molded into the hose that lets you make the necc. bends.

I know exactly what you are trying to describe. I spent at least two hours this past summer trying to route the heater hoses on my '61.

The AIM gave me the impression the heater hose went under the generator and through the generator bracket with the heater hose bracket mounted on the engine side of the generator bracket.

No matter how I tried to make this work, the heater hose would kink. I tried varying the length of the slack heater hose around the generator, turning the hose bracket around, and slightly bending the heater hose bracket.

I finally "convinced" myself that I was reading too much in to the AIM. I ended up routing the hose under the generator but around the generator bracket. I mounted the heater hose bracket on the passenger fender side of the generator bracket. With this routing, the heater hose connected without kinking.

This is on my list to check out at the Kissimmee show this weekend. I hope to get some photos of the hose routing.

Whichever way you go make sure there is adequate clearance from the hoses to the fanbelt around the generator. A running engine with a little wobble in the belt an eat right thru a heater hose. Don't ask me how I know.
