The DS (if I keep it) March 10th head appears to be day shift as well at about the second dot, so early day shift. Second picture.

Hence, I suppose it is possible that the March 10th head could have made it over to my car by the end of the day.

So, do I keep it or ship it back and try for an earlier date?

The C 10 7 casting date marker on that head was attached with one flat head screw and one round head screw, so it was poured on second shift on the 10th at Saginaw - it couldn't have been trucked to Flint V-8, machined, assembled, and installed on an engine assembled on the 10th. If you absolutely MUST have a head that works with your engine assembly date, you'll need one dated earlier.

Saw that but didn't put 2 and 2 together. Looks like I can get a March 3rd Head, so I think I will just ship this one back and have them rebuild me the March 3 one, that way everything will be "correct" as can be.

I have a 65 327/365 with a sketchy past.

461Heads are Nov17 K174
Assy Date is Dec 10 (FI2I0HH)
S1779 body build date is Dec 28

Do you see any glaring errors with this date pattern? I have seen reports of some going from cast to build in a week, so I was not sure if the gaps were too large.

A March 3 head is more plausible, a March 10 head possible, but not nearly as plausible.
