    55 Security

I need to pull my engine and powerglide to fix a Trans. leak(Converter bleeding back into body). My new insurance Co.(Ca. version of Corvette Museum) wants an alarm installed......anyway while the car is apart I can install the device maybe under the battery box?

Has anyone found a spot out of the way that I can mount one. Also any recommendations on what kind to purchase. Thanks Bob

Hi Roy how's the knee doing? I'm going to pull the engine/trans. at the house as soon as the temp warms a little. I was talking to an old PG Guy, said If I'm lucky it would just be the converter fit. He also said to replace the front seal and the dipstick tube seal so it doesn't leak even if it does bleed back. most bleed back into the case we just don't realize it until it spills out..........As soon as you start the car it pumps back into the converter.

Do the judges care about looking at an alarm system if its neatly done?

NO! The knee is doing OK Thanks I don't see why a judge would deduct any points unless you add holes to install it on the body , I've installed many accessories that dint need a hole drilled to use ,so I lost no points. Besides that who would wont to steal a 55 old Corvette.

There are words about alarm systems and judging in The Judging Reference Manual. I don't have the words in front of me (nor the inclination to keyboard them if I did), so I won't try to paraphrase on the chance I get it wrong. Check your copy of The Judging Reference Manual.

Hide it under the battery area splash pan where you don't see it, that's where I hide my See-The-USA horns , the Dina Shore Chevy song accessory

                Hi All
If the car is home and you have an Alarm system in your house it most likely
No big deal to tie it into the system with NO damage to the car. With a closed loop it can be as simple as looping a gate connector thought a hole in the frame. when someone cuts it or remove it the alarm trips. It most likely can be done wireless or hard wired. I have enstalled many of this type set up throught the years on cars boats and what ever can be removed easly.

I've never heard of any insurance company requiring you to install an alarm on an antique car.

I'm not familiar with the "Ca. version of Corvette Museum" insurance.

I have Hagerty. Used to have American Collectors. I've had antique car insurance for probably 25 years on various old cars, Corvette and non-Corvette, and have never been told that I have to install an alarm.

'Same here Chuck. I don't believe I was even asked about car alarms, although I did volunteer that I have house and garage alarms.

Bob, hope you are feeling much better.

when I was talking to the agent we discussed 53 to 55 doors not being able to lock....that's where all this came from. I think a 12 Ga. would have better results....Bob

IIRC, and Roy will know and probably has some, didn't someone produce small locks for the vent windows?

Bob, we probably are all too familiar with the fast food line. Last week I had an Angus Burger (bacon and cheese) and large fries from McD's. I try to limit myself to once a month. The McGriddles are pretty good, too. This week my wife is away and so far I have limited myself to salads, Raisin Bran, apples, pears, bananas, fish, --- 'Seems unnatural growing up in a time when Mom always had an iron skillet and bacon grease on the stove. It worked for all three meals.
