Jack hold down spring on eBay

Did anyone else see the 2 jack hold down springs that sold on eBay? One sold for over $300 plus shipping and the other sold for about $30. I'll bet the buyer who paid $300 was really p****d when he saw the results of the other.

I did see that, and I was shocked. We'd better hurry to get that 67 heater knob with a BuyItNow price of $125!

I cant see how the person that paid $300 would get upset because if he's that stupid he don't think the same spring could sell for $30.00 could be correct. I don't wont people to think I'm picking on all C2 guys , but all I ever seem to read about are C2 parts selling and buying at stupid prices like you mentioned .

How about this one, is it just me or does that seem a bit pricey for some plastic straps?

Clearly this seller has a reputation on eBay for providing real items and he often get's a premium.

I saw another seller get well over $250 for some lug nuts for a mid 60's car. Look that one up.

You can not blame the sellers, these started low and did not seem to over represent waht they were selling. More power to them I guess.

Or the oil cap that sold Saturday PM for 400 and the one just like it is still with a buy it now $50 price unsold. I have seen no less that 6 different claims of having the original 66 427 oil cap, in the end it is the buyer that causes the inflation as if the parts did not sell after sevral attempts the price would drop to meet demand, economic 101.

Just a side note as to Ebay buying. I needed the Targa Top w/s for my 87. Most of the aftermarket guys and Ebay have them for about $85, some body put up a nice pair for $65 shipped, which I bought and installed (they fit well), THEN somebody put up a pair (new) with no reserve. Sold for $31. Never know.

Out Bid-itis. There is a class of bidders on ebay who can't stand to be out bid on anything. They keep bumping their bids until they win.

Or to some money is no object when it comes to chasing those final points towards perfect. There was a recent auction for a set of six C2 kick panel screws that went for $168. I thought that was crazy, but then two weeks later another set from the same seller went for $201 !!! I guess the ones who got beat in the first round decided that wouldn't happen again.

I've seen screws, bolts, and wing nuts go for more then a 55 (Vary rare ) air cleaner, or a C1 hard top. What is it about C2's ?? The C1's must be a poor mans Corvette.

Hey, if it fits on a 63 or 67 BB it's "priceless".

I recently saw a 63 steel wheel bring about $300 on ebay. My long term experence as a former auto dealer and attendant of thousands of auto auctions tells me that the owner has had some help with the bidding to achieve these numbers.

                            Henry, that's crazy as that's a $10.00 item. Stan I agree.

I bought a 1 hook spring for my 63 at Carlisle for $3.00.

                            Where have their brains gone?
