    Frame/Rolling Chassis suppliers

Looking to get my '77 Coupe roadworthy.
I am in need of a good frame or rolling chassis I can just bolt on.
Any reliable resellers in Ontario Canada or Michigan?
I can pick up, preferably within an 8 hour drive of Belleville,ON.
Delivery is okay too, but I don't want to spend a grand getting it here.
    Thanks for your help.

Check with Vette products of Michigan, they have new frames for about $4000, not sure where you would go for a rolling chassis. Did you try to google it?

      Hey Mike
Did you check Paragon in Michigan. The may even have a used frame you can purchase.

What's the duty on bringing in a frame into CDN.
$4000+ exchange+duty+transportion(even if you pick it up)

I rebuilt my frame. I must have spent around $2000 in new parts. But the time I spent on it was enormous. I had to build an angle iron frame around the frame to keep the pick up points from moving.

Zero. might have to pay sales tax though.

Either way that's a lot of money to sink into a later C3.

Used is used. In this case these frames are 30 + years old. Which ultimately do we know the condition of....new frame with no issues or used regardless of repairs done . The only thing one might hang their hat on is "it's an original frame"......unfortunately we can't look inside and know the true integrity.

Vette Products of Michigan makes a quality product......with a small amount of massaging can be made to appear as original. Now don't bash me on that statement as there are many who will read this that have taken a component and although unoriginal made it appear to be such....

              Mike,
I am directly across the lake from you and may have some ideas/suggestions that may be of value to you. If you send me a "Private Message" or email, we can discuss this off the board if you are interested. As stated you have to be careful about the amount of investment for this vintage of car, as you could easily spend much more than the current market value of the car, with place like Vette Products, or Paragon, although I would bet they will not tell you that.

Thanks for the help with the frame, I have done some homework with replacement parts and it looks like bushings, lines, rockers ect are going to be the killer even before the body comes off. Any more tidbits of info are greatly appreciated by all.

A lot depends on what you want from the car. Are you trying to make money as in a business or are you trying to keep a vintage car running, or are you trying to restore a vintage car? To me the statement about spending too much money on a vintage car is quite funny. I've had several Corvettes over the years and if I had kept track of every dime I spent on them I'm sure people would say I spent more than they were worth, but so what. If you are in this hobby to make money, better find a new hobby. If you are in it to have a good time, that rarely comes cheap. If you love the car, spend what it takes to make it the car "you" want. I don't see how you can put a price tag on something that when done can give you hundreds of hours of pleasure. Just my old two cents.

Awesome comments Terry. I am doing a 74 and am having lots of fun. I am doing a frame off restoration and am trying to not spend a lot of money by using oringinal parts and refinishing them. I am tired of hearing, your building a 74 why! Because I love the car, am excited about it and want to.
Thanks for the comments and words of wisdom!

                        Rob:

One other thing to add to Terry's comments. These cars tend appreciate over time and it will eventually be worth whatever you put into it. I think that we have seen the bottom of pricing for these cars.

                          Re: Frame/Rolling Chassis suppliers

Hi everyone, I am trying to keep cost to a minimum just to get the car on the road quickly and safely for a project before my 18 year old son moves on to the next stage of his life(father/son bonding). I would like to teach him a bit about Corvettes and hopefully he will open up to me and we can have a better understanding of each other. I would like to get the car on the road so he can enjoy it with me, and I will probably give it to him when he moves out (don't tell him)and start another project Vette with him. It is very discouraging having a beautiful car but not being able to drive it, you know the attention span of teenage boys, 0-girls in 1 second.
                          Thanks, Mike
