All I can tell you about it is this: it looks to me like a Delco-Packard part number that dates back to the early 60's, or so. However, I can't find any Chevrolet applications for it through 1975 and, as far as I can tell, it was not a Chevrolet-utilzed part during that period. So, it must have been used for other GM car lines, but I don't know what specific car lines or models.

GM #2972627 was discontinued from SERVICE in December, 1980 and replaced by GM #6287160. The latter piece is a 10-1/2" ground strap that was used across all GM car and truck lines, including Chevrolet, for 1976-81. As far as I can tell, it "co-existed" with the 2972627 for some time until 1980 when it replaced it for SERVICE.

The GM #6287160 was applicable to 1976-79 Corvettes. It is now discontinued, though.
