Location of Engine Code on 94 LT1

    Hello:
Where precisely is the engine code on a 94 LT1? In my case it would be
"WTA" which I got off of my build sheet. Would it be printed on a tape which is glued on the engine or would it be "gang stamped" like the older
    engines on a pad somewhere?

    Thanks; Larry

Hi Larry. The engine code for my 96 LT4 ("ZXD") is stamped on a pad in front of the passenger side head, similar to the location of older Vettes, and I would think yours would be in the same location. Scroll down in this link and you'll see a picture of mine:

Keep in mind that there is a difference between "engine production code" and "VIN derivative" as far as location of stamping goes on these later C4 engines. The "engine production code" is on the pad in front of the right side cylinder head.

I have been told that that an ALTERNATE location for the "engine production code" is the stamp pad on the left rear of the engine where the VIN derivative is later stamped. However, I've never confirmed that any were ever stamped at that location.
