Pilot bearing style or bushing style ?

I have looked up several posts on pilot bearings. I have been told that their are advantages to the bearing type. I would assume if I install the bearing type the run out on the bell housing would have to be to a tighter spec. ( The one I took out is magnetic ) I am replacing the pressure plate and clutch with a luk . Kit. It comes with a regular style Pilot bushing. I think I will go with the Bronze Bushing.
    Thanks for any help.

    Wayne,
I would use the bushing, just make sure it's the oilite bronze type, non magnetic. They usually come with Luk and other quality clutches. I had one of those bearings fail in a flywheel and it was a bear to get out. The bushing is easy to remove and remember, when in doubt go with OEM.

John's correct.... Use the OEM type. BUT... be SURE it's the non-magnetic bushing. Lot's of kits have the wrong one & can eat up your input shaft ! I know NAPA carries the correct bushing...under number 615- 1161 , I think...

The roller bearing type was used for some OEM applications. These included 1994-96 C4's. However, I really do not recommend them for earlier applications. The bronze bushings work very well and, likely, will outlast most of us at this point.
