    69 SB Power Steering Cap

Would someone be kind enough to post a picture of an original power steering cap for a 1969 small block.

I need one and need to know what to look for.

    Thanks.

In the link to the thread below I posted a photo of an original 1969 power steering pump reservoir cap.

The TIM&J states the original is a metal cap with Check Oil Hot. Use Automatic transmission Fluid Type A.

Your attached photos in the other thread has Fill to proper level Use approved fluid which the TIM&J states is a later production that are plastic.

Would you revisit the photos and please advise?

My March built L46 has the plastic cap as pictured in the past thread. I have owned my car for over 32 years and it was basically untouched when I got it so I believe the cap to be original.

The cap I pictured in the referenced thread is a known-original cap from a known original (original owner) early-build 1969 (around October, 1968).

The metal cap you are referring to was used for 1968 and earlier Corvettes, but, as far as I know, not for 1969's. Of course, it's always possible for something like this that VERY early 1969's may have used the 68 and earlier style cap.

These are pictures of my '69 BB cap...April build. Other than missing one of the ears, could it be correct?

I have never seen this style cap on a Corvette. However, that does not mean they were never used.

that is the metal cap used on all the cars through model year 68.
yes - missing an ear, but widely used on mid year Corvettes

I don't think so. At least, it does not appear to be configured like the metal cap I've seen that was used for 1963-68. Plus, this cap looks to me to be plastic. In fact, if it's metal I do not understand how the ear could have been broken off the way it appears.

it has a heavy coat of paint - but that's the early cap.

Thanks for the help, with picture in hand I have located an original PS cap for my car. In doing so I found a vendor that has a huge collection of original 63 - 70 parts.

If someone needs a ps cap he has the plastic and metal top configurations.

I have quite a few of those caps.
How did you like the RC15?

Received the package, quite satisfied with the RC15. Power steering cap was very reasonable compared to the RC15.
