D409 rotor - Can this be salvaged?

    Here is another one I would like your thoughts on. It too seems to have an electrode tip that is the same distance from center as the OEM old style ones I have, but as you can see it does not have the original style tip. I did not open the box, but the person I got it from tells me he did and that this part came out. Are you familiar with any D409's with the longer electrode that had this style tip?

      If the rotor fails its gonna take the distributor cap with it and possibly cause an accident. Personally I would go to my local NAPA store and buy nice new one and forget about it. No it doesn't have the extended tip on it. But it's good enough unless maybe you are going drag racing.
      Made by Standard and very inexpensive. RR167 R or RR169R.
      Car Quest sells a cheap rotor. I don't care for it though.
      The best service replacement rotor on the market that even old Bill Clupper would love is made by Accel!!!! Yes it has the extended tip.

      Now say you have a 58 to 62 with dual points and don't want to spring for big buck D324cap and you are not going for the blue ribbon. Then go to Accel and buy a brown or black cap that has the good rotor in it. Only problem is that it has ACCEL in raised letters on the cap. Send it to Doc MM and he will zip them off for you for a box or so of chew. JD
