    Plasticon hard top info wanted

I have two of these tops and am wondering what used to cover the outside of the rear latch attachment area. There is a circular sheet metal part on the outside corner of the top that keeps the side rear latches from pulling through the fiberglass. Both tops have signs that indicate something used to cover these metal discs. Anyone got a photo or drawing of what it was?

Also, one of my tops is missing a latch. So I'm trying to find one. Please drop me a line if you know someone that may have a spare.

      Roy,
Do you have any pictures of all the different style Bubble Tops
      that were produced?
      How many different styles....3-4?
Can you post them if you have them?

      Karl.

The latch is mostly the same as the soft tops for plasticon only.

          There were mainly three tops
1 Scott top small rear window top left
2 the plasticon top large rear window bottom right
3 the bubble tops ,in clear or tinted green (only 5 were made green as seen on mine )
          lower pic.
Then there were other odd ones right pic's round window and home design olds tail lights?
The most popular was and is the plasticon top made in Ca. They can bring $3,000 and up restored $5,000 and up.
The bubble tops (original's) clear or tinted $30,000 and up.
The white 54 in Germany I made and sold of only 15 could now bring $10,000 and up . I don't make them any more ( a pain in the a*s to make) . Most hard tops many people wont because putting the soft top up is a pain in the a*S. And is mostly weather tight . The problem with plasticon tops is that there rear window are usually broken and hard to replace .
I love the two of the tops I have for there look and weather warm condition when installed .

The emblem is paper you could copy and paste if the button is still there .

The top on my Vette is the Scott one. Any more info on it?
              I always wondered about it.

From the photo it sure looks like plastic. It doesn't seem like paper would hold up in the weather. Is it a wax coated cardboard like milk cartons or something like that?

The Scott top was also made in Ca. By an other company , the bad thing is that it don't cover (go over) the windshield top trim like the plasticon top and (leaks) and the hardware is funky but the rear window is easy to make and replace . I like the plasticon BIG rear window for backing up and looks. But again the scott top is also rare to locate.

You are right about the way the Scott top is hooked up.
