Since 1968 was the last year for key codes to be placed on Corvette owner's card with the name and VIN, what was the first year the key codes were imprinted. My wife's 64 owner's card has KEY NO. printed on her owner's card but no key number imprinted on the card, just the name and VIN.

Re: Key codes/key numbers
Jim - I don't know the years but as you pointed out the information on the owner's card of the 64 was the KEY NO. (KEY NUMBER) and that is the 4 digit number stamped on the GM/Briggs and Stratton key KNOCK OUTs thru 1966 production and the 4 character aphanumeric sequence stamped on the KNOCK OUTs of the 67 and newer production vehicles. The other number, the KEY CODE is the depth cuts (GM keys have 6 depth cuts) on the key shaft. Many times the KEY NUMBERs were on some Corvette ORDER/DELIVER form copies and sometimes hand written on Owner's POP books by the Dealer. Pete- Top
