mating my engine and tranny

Im fixing to put the two together. I was going to lay the engine in a wood cradle and try to mate the two. Then pick them up and lay it in the frame. Any hints on makig sure the coverter stays in place. Also, what is the "point" on the adapter plate for. I cant find any info. Any hints on this process is greatly appreciated. Thanks folks.

If you are going to move your trans and convertor around try this.
Put the convertor on the trans input shaft then take a box wrench and attach it to the trans through one of the mounting holes.
The wrench will keep the convertor in place.

The pointer on the plate is your timing indicator. There should be a ball on the flywheel also, Good luck...........

Make sure the convertor is ALL the way into the pump and it should stay in ,then mate the trans to the engine tight before you add any bolts , don't draw the trans to the engine using the trans bolts because if you do the convertor was NOT all the way into the pump and you'll not wont to see what you did wrong after.

Thanks Roy, I would like to think it would be obvious when the converter is bottomed out. I got my tranny rebuild kit from FATSCO Inc.if anyones interested.

Wrong ! have a friend screw up the pump dogs using a air in pack . never assume anything
