    Price on Steel bumper C-3'S

It looks to me that the early C-3'S are going down some in price. I realize they did not go up nearly as fast or as high as the C2'S. What is the general opinion out there are they a good buy or what? Just looking for an ideas on this. I have a couple good buy's lined up I think. One is a 68 and the other a 72. Both in near perfect condition. Thanks Tom

Tom, Check this one out. Seem like a good deal, if real.

Unscientific observation of ads for 68's and 69's over the last couple of years indicates to me that there is a bigger difference in asking price between big block and small block C3's than there is in the C2 world. Notice I said asking price. Who knows what they really go for. I have not noticed a downward trend in ASKING price for C3 BB cars, but once again, asking is just that.

That sure sounds like a good deal, but it doesn't say anything about being original. I doubt if it is like it seems.Anyway I am in Florida I cannot make the showing time. Thanks Tom

I suggest you buy the April 2010 issue of OLD CAR PRICE GUIDE. Cars are rated from #1-#6 with some good information in the front of the publication to know the differance between a #1 to #6. It is a realistic guide on values with current market conditions.
FYI-One of my cars is a 68 that we have owned for 30 years. They have a lot of one of a kind parts which can be a challenge. But its a lot of fun to drive.

My brother and I both bought such small block c-3s two years ago, mine a 69, my brothers a 72. Watching the various auctions and keeping an ear to the ground, its clear that prices have plummeted since the economic collapse. I think the 72 has taken the bigger hit, but probably both have lost between a quarter to a third of what we paid.

If you want a c-3 bumper car, go for it. I bought a 68 Mustang last summer on Ebay for about two-thirds what it would have sold for a year earlier. The way I look at it, I don't know that I'll make any money on it when I get ready to move on to something else, but I'm enjoying it more now having paid less for it.

Once you decide on a year class or classes...each car is a unique case as to what best fits you. What engines? What trannies? What options? Convertible or coupe

Prevailing pricing is probably still out there somewhere...there is at least enough data to get you in the ball park. After that, it's about how much the seller is attached to the car, and if he can be objective concerning market value.

Whatever you're selling...houses, cars, land, etc...this economy is forcing most sellers to put sentimentality aside to make a sale. Unfortunately, some sales will be forced sales...advantage buyer with liquid assets.

"Near perfect condition" is good, especially for the 68. If both cars were virtually the same regards condition and equipment I desired, i.e. engines, transmissions, body style, and options, and no restoration was required, I would probably lean toward the 68. But pricing could also affect that evaluation.

I definitely think early sharks are good buys presently. Hang out over on the Chevelle, Camaro, Nova websites. The '68 thru '72 year Corvettes are an absolute bargain for the money compared with the aforementioned makes.

I've always been a solid axle and mid-year guy but got interested in buying a 68 or 69 427 3 years ago. Found a nice 68 427/390 coupe and love it. Seems to be every bit as nice to drive as my mid year.

I think everything has gone down over the last year and a half. It's a terrific opportunity to buy a car that might have been unaffordable as recently as 3 years ago.

all car prices are off. the real good top flight type cars still bring good money but everything else is off. the double bumper cars are still a good value. they are the next big thing. the rare ones and the special ones are still a good investment. special meaning big block, lt-1, convertible... i am not looking to sell anything right now but its a great time to buy. i have 3 c3's. 70 lt1 vert, 70 ls-5 vert, 72 lt-1 vert. i just bought the 70 bb car because it was so cheap. i did not need another car but could not pass up an original yellow, power window, ls-5 4 speed vert for under 20k. the car is junk but its all there.

Thanks for all the responses . What I suspected in price drops for c-3's seems to be the concensus here. Thanks again for all the info. By the way the 68 big block has gotten away from me price wise I think.Tom
