Original engine???

Back on Jan 30th, I posted info to confirm my '66 Coupe originally 327 300 hp. I've just returned from Haiti (Search & Rescue) and have additional info. My stamp pad is 6124450 F0520HH (pad length = 3.5 "). 3858174 = 1.5" and GM = .75". It was delivered to Harry Mann Chevy in LA, CA. The plate reads: K07 Detroit, MI, A-4516 Body, Trim: Std., 19437. 982 paint. Block cast is C 28 6. Here's the update. On the front of the block it has the following markings. Upper right corner:

852
Lower right corner:
HB
Next to cam opening:
X
G17
Lower left corner:

362

Bellhousing end has the following:
H5
174
HB
G852 (maybe C).

I don't know the VIN of your car, but assuming it is the same as the number indicated on the engine stamp, I would say your sequence of numbers indicate a correct application. Is it original ?? I don't know, but I would guess yes, unless you suspect somebody restamped it.

March cast block. Assembled in May. Installed in a June A.O. Smith bodied car.

Looks good to me.

Then again, I always seem to miss something. Wait for more replies before you take mine to the bank !!
