    Al Knoch Customer Service

    Hi all,

    I recently ordered a set of carpets for my 67 Coupe from AK based upon the many positive reviews in the TDB Archives. Unfortunately, the set that was sent was in very poor condition, loops pulled out and cut or torn, inconsistent weave, and generally not acceptable. I called and explained the problem to AK and they immediately emailed me a label for shipping the carpet back. A week later a new and perfect set of Bright Blue carpet arrived. Not sure why this problem occured, and they chose not to comment, but I suspect a reject set, maybe from a roll end, was mistakenly boxed for shipment. The important thing is the way they handled the problem. A lot of companies talk the talk, but this was immediate and positive action to correct what I think was an unfortunate and honest mistake. Excellent company and I thought it was worth mentioning on the Board.

      I have also found that you pay the price but you get good quality from AK.

        I have always had a good experience when dealing with Al Knoch. I always stop at Al's booth at Bloomington Gold. Regardless of how busy he is, he always find the time to talk to me. Many years ago I had an issue with a convertible top I purchased from him. I returned the top and he promptly replaced it. No hassle , great customer service.

            i had bought my 57 and checking the date code of the soft top it was dated for 67. I called them explained the issue, i had the recepit from the previous owner and they sent me a new top complete with proper date code no questions asked. Didn't ask for the old one back. I agree with other about a good company, they handled it very well.

              I bought a set of door panels from Knoch around 19810or so put them under my bed until I needed them. About i995 went to install the panels and the fit was horrible. Tried in vain to get ak to adjust them for another set but refused, saying that I had not bought them from him. ................Never again !!! I bought them at Bloomington , right out of his truck......................

                Joe,

                I'm not trying to put you on the spot, but are you saying that you purchased an item from a vendor in 1981, and you're upset because they wouldn't exchange them for a different item 14 years later? Just trying to understand.

                  Yes, the vendor was al Knoch interiors but his business was located somewhere else than it is now. I approached him by phone and while I could not talk to him in person, so the gal that answered the phone said, I was led to believe that no exchange would be forthcoming since they were not purchased from them, and me with the sales reciept. Never mind the length of time that I had them, they were still in new condition. I know his reputation and others in the business and most feel their product is second to none..............but we alll know better. It may be best I'll agree for whats available.....and again AL Knoch never again!!!

                    Joe, I misunderstood. You were upset that they wouldn't acknowledge that you purchased the door panels from them even though you had a receipt with their name on it to prove it. Like not believing what you were saying. I can understand your being upset about that, I would be too.

                    I will say though, I wouldn't expect a vendor to accept an exchange on a purchase after so much time had passed.

                      I bought a complete C3 carpet set at Carlisle several years ago,never opened it and stored 10 months before using. When I opened it up it was clearly not a matched set, 2 shades of black and the 80-20 loop didn't match. I brought it back to Al at the next Carlisle, he had a guy open the box and take a look and replaced the set on the spot a year later. The 2nd set was perfect.

                        A friend bought a dash pad for his 61. It had been already trimmed (way too much). AK sent a new one and told him he could either keep the unusable one or send it back. It almost seems that they are having trouble marking their returns and restock? Anyway the point is that AK got on it right away

                          They must have improved significantly since my last purchase from him. In 1998 I purchased a set of 1967 white vinyl seat covers with an installation kit from him. I of course paid a premium price based on his reputation. The installation kit had a cheap set of hog ring pliers and the hold down hardware was way to short. The biggest problem was during installation one of the covers had several pleats that pulled apart. This was the not the fisrt set of seat covers I had installed on a corvette and I'm not exactly a body builder. When I called they said he was away at a show and to call back next week. I got a email address and sent digital pictures of the seperated pleats. When I talked to AL himself, he was completely indifferent to the problem and wanted to know what length the hold downs should be and offered to "repair" his expensive seat covers, not replace them. I repaired them myself and got some piano wire and made the correct lenght hold downs. Needless to say he is not on my prefered vendor list.

                            I had a soft top put on my 67 and installer said it was great product, same for the leather seats I had put on years ago. HOWEVER, the door panels, especially the drivers side suck...vent window hole was off center, no joy on trying for replacement so I am stuck with it....different times mean better or worst products I guess, still I would consider him again as needed.

                              Al and his crew are the best, i have been a customer since he opened shop in Garden City Mi.The few problems I've had have been taken care of immediately, by Al or Dale, he is constantly improving the product line getting us all the judging points we can, Al and handful of other venders have helped make our hobby what it is today.
