    '58 Radiator Core Refurbishment

I am seeking some advice/guidance regarding the refurbishment of my Radiator core support.

My intent is to weld / finish grind and then powder coat to ensure the support well protected from rust.

    Question:
Any issues with Powder Coating vs. Painting?
What is the correct powder coat paint code for the correct color/finish?

    Thank you in advance,

    Don

Background: I removed the core support and aside from needing to weld in (2) replacement flange edges that were cut off to accommodate Bubba’s frontend lift (e.g. 3” I-beam spacers to give it that rat rod look), the support is in very good condition.

Don, if you are going to have the car judged I would paint the support. I have a number of under hood pieces powder coated black on my '77 and they look much different than the original paint did and the original paint on my '78 and '57. One very noticable issue is that powder coating is thicker and the original paint on the supports much thinner.

    Regards,

    Steve

Check with Tom DeWitt at Dewitt Radiators. I was at his shopseveral years ago and he had tooling make to replicate the original parts, I have one and it fits great. He will sell you just the parts required
