    Help re-installing seatbelt bolts.

I have removed and replaced seatbelts in my '66 roadster. No problems until trying to get the allen head bolt back into their outboard receptors. Can't get a grip to get them started. Been trying for hours. They fit easily when not run through the belts and boot. Any ideas? Also trying to remove rusted out and broken rear seat mounting anchor due to rust. Can't get a grip on it. Anyone? Thanks.

i just went through the same thing with my 66 convertible. i cut the rusted bolt heads off with an .045 cutoff wheel and removed the rivets to drop out the anchor plate. I instaled a new plate and seat bracket. as far as the belts went i had no problem you might want to try a swivel allen wrench to give you more wiggle room.

I had the same problem when I did my interior. My problem was the new carpeting over the luggage stop meeting with the new front carpet in that corner. The build up of carpet was preventing the point on the belt boot to become square enough with the bolt receiver so that the bolt could easily start in the threads and attach the boot/belt assembly. It was about a 32nd to a 16th of an inch that's gained but in my case that did it.

      Hope this helps....
