1960 Convertable top rear bow weatherstriping

I recently replaced my convertable top (within the last 2 years). The rear bow weatherstriping is attached with staples going across the back on the inside of the car. This really looks shoddy and I can not believe it should really look this way. I took my car to the premier upholsterier/convertable top go to guy in Charlotte, NC to have it adjusted.

Initally he did not think this was correct but he called me today to say that the "60 back bow weatherstriping was stapled. Is this correct and can anyone post their photo of their rear bow weatherstriping?

When I purchased my '57 in '64 the original top was on the car and the original strip was also. It was stapled. Staples have been used on the weatherstrip, soft parts and pliable dust flaps on Corvettes through the years.

      Valeria -

Staples are everywhere on a convertible top - there are hundreds of them; that's how the top skin, pads, and many of the seals are attached to the top frame.

Thank you for your responses. The staples are viewable from the inside of the car looking back. I take it this was normal. My new upholsterier said that the 61 - 62 used a rope attachment. Is this true?

I believe the rope seal you refer to is the mohair rear convertible top seal (weatherstrip) used up until 1958. I have one on my 57.
They also look nice and seal very well.
So I believe the that the stapled rubber rear bow seal was used in 62 and possibly earlier years.
