C1 Arm rests- How did the Genral do it?

Just got new interior door panels and arm rests for my '61. The arm rests are covered and ready to install. The covers don't have holes for the screws that go through them and I don't see any listings for grommets for them. How were they installed at the factory. Did they just cut an unfinnished hole in the cover?
    Thanks

What is generally seen is an "X" slit for the screw.

      Good luck

Thanks guys. Thats sort of what I thought but hadn't ever seen an original installation since mine came with a "custom" diamond pleated interior. What would I do without this board??
