'61 Front Bumper

The front bumper on my '61 does not fit right. The right side sticks out further than the left. When I removed the bumper, the Right Front bumper brace sticks out about 1/2" more than the left (the left one is flush). Anyway to adjust this? I don't know if it is the correct brace, and it appears to be mounted correctly, and but it doesn't look like it has been damaged.

I would loosen up the bolts where attached to the frame to se if you have wiggle room, then try to tap the bumper back a little with a rubber mallet. Careful not to ding the bumper, then re-tighten the bolts.

The 58-60 brackets are different from 61 and 62. Are ya sure you have the right one? Also have you checked to make sure the frame isn't bent? Lots of things happen to 50 year old cars.

Terry,

I think the 58-60 and 61-61 BUMPER brackets are the same, aren't they? It's the license plate frame brackets that are different.

All the catalogs show the same bracket for 58-62, but Terry may be right because on two different cars, a 61 and a 62, I had to cut a 1/2 inch out of one bracket and weld them back together. Gary

I stand corrected, the brackets are the same, it's the bumpers and the number of spacers used that is different. Sometimes the old brain doesn't remember thing correctly.
