    Re: 1959 Inca Silver Fuelie

Can I tell you guys I love driving this car so much!!! The first trip for ice cream and some gas was no problem. On the second trip, with the top off looking smooth, cruising with my wife I get a flat. I guess the hubcaps get loose and bent and cut the valve stem. I changed the tire with the original jack (piece of crap BTW). The jack handcrank broke at the tip where it inserts in the jack. The spare tire was older than I am, but it got me home. Also, the car wouldnt restart until I readjusted the choke (hot restart problem just read that).

All that drama and it didnt bother me a bit... I had a great time. Plus my wife was impressed I could change a tire so quickly. I got the tire valve stem fixed for 6 bucks and changed it back on... cleaned up the whitewall with some SOS pads and good as new. I guess I need a new jack handcrank hehe.

Any tricks on tightening the hubcaps so they dont spin?
Best source for a jack handcrank?

The only way I could stop the wheel covers on my 57's from rotating (and bending the valve stems) after I put radials on them was to have steel valve stems installed; worked great.

Great looking automobile Joseph, sophisticated color combo. The car's beautiful profile is deliciously accentuated by that airy little hardtop. You will never regret your purchase, '59 & '60's are my favourite C-1's, but then, I have a good reason for my bias! Enjoy.

Joseph, the discoloration is common. I used to use toothpaste diluted with a little water in the 60's on Polo White nitrocellulose. Then I applied 3M Glaze. From the early 70's I used very diluted polishing compound (much more water than compound) and the 3M but did it often and did not remove significant paint---not enough to tell.
