I will post a few pictures showing the ridge on the short handle latches. Pictures are from my 57 bowtie car.

Remember they were casted so as a casting got worn later's latches may not show the ridge as well as the first run. And they used many castings not just one to make them all.
That's why people argue about the grill teeth !!!!!

What do you mean Roy.....the leading edge of the teeth being pointed?

I remember about 15 years ago I bought new repro teeth. Junk. Leading edges were all over the place, flat, not pointed.

Please forgive me for the misinformation!
My latches have a slight ridge to them. I cleaned them up and polished them today and Yes they have a ridge. Will post photo's tomorrow.

Not pointed but not flat but mostly pointed and I know that's not saying anything but you decide.
