    1959 T10 Transmission color question

Can anyone tell me the original/correct color scheme for a early 1959 T10 tranny? I believe the main case is black, the tail housing and inspection cover are silver/aluminum, the linkages are silver, and the shifter bottomworks (linkage pegs) silver. Thanks for the help. Any pics would be great! Dated 3-23-59

i leave the cast iron case in its raw cast appearance. the intermediate plate and tailhousing are left raw aluminum. the shifter and its rods are black oxide. mike

If you email me I will send you pictures of an original 1959 t-10 that was restored by Darrell at Pipers to proper specs. I'm not sure how to attach pictures to this site. Richard

If this is a correct photo then why does the engine have aluminum valve covers?
I thought that the single carb engine had stamped steel painted valve covers?

            Sid------

You're correct. The 1959 single four barrel engine did not originally use aluminum valve covers. However, I suspect it was not Rob's intention to say that EVERYTHING in the photo represented correct configuration----just the transmission which is the subject of this thread.

A lot of folks install the aluminum valve covers on a Corvette engine that did not originally use them. It's pretty easy to change them out for judged events.
