Does anyone have the information on the gross axle weights for the front and rear axles of my 1973 454 cu.in. 4 speed coupe? There is a partial label on the car that lists the GVWR as 4217 Thanks

Re: 1973 vehicle certification label
I think your label is something other than the weight, as I owned a '74 new and it was about 3500 lb, and I have specs for a '77 at 1710-1831, 3541 total, add 150 for your 454 and still nowhere near 4000 lb.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: 1973 vehicle certification label
The label is the blue weight certification label on the drivers door . Half of the label is still there, what is there says the GVWR is 4217. I am trying to find out what the axle weights are so I can get a correct repoped label. All the info I have found states the base weight for a 1973 is between 3742 and 3750 lbs.- Top

Re: 1973 vehicle certification label
GVWR = Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. It is the weight of the vehicle pluss what it is rated to carry. So the 1973 Corvette did not get significantly heavier than the 1972 Corvette, nor did much change on the chassis that would allow a 1973 to carry much more weight than a 1972.

Re: 1973 vehicle certification label
My 73 LS4 has a total weight of 4293. Front is 2133 rear is 2160.
That is what is on my label. Hope that helps. Ken- Top

Re: 1973 vehicle certification label
What's on that label aren't vehicle weights - they're GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) and the front and rear axle gross weight ratings; those are the maximum weights the vehicle (and each axle) are designed to carry. They're developed from the weight of the car with all fluids, full fuel, driver & passenger, plus factory options, luggage and accessories.- Top
