Did you get an actual measurement for idle vacuum in Drive at 550?

Emission controlled engines typically have higher specified idle speeds than non emission engines. Up to '67 the the base cam engine idle speeds in Drive with P/G were generally specified in the range of 450-500.

Lower idle speed will reduce "creep", but reduce manifold vacuum, and you need to maintain at least 13-14" to keep the VAC locked at full advance for a stable idle (Two-Inch Rule).

I didn't measure vacuum at 550rpm. I was just content with the idle steadiness and a minimum amount of creep with the TH400.

        Tim,

The Breakerless unit was installed 2 summers ago. The instructions got tossed this winter in a fit of house cleaning. Yes, I know about the plastic coated clip. I just plain failed to bend the spade connector out of the way. The connector on the wire I removed was much shorter, and caused no interference problems. Haste makes waste, or in my case, no vacuum advance.
