    Jack,
Be sure to have the set (2 or 4) rechromed or they will look different when on the car.

Re: I scratched my bumper and need help

Long time ago, I had scratched my two front bumpers on my '57 with a car show coming up. I called Paul's Chrome Plating and asked them if they could do a "rush" job. They said yes and I sent them the bumpers and got them back in two weeks. You have plenty of time to get them rechromed. PT

Don't let anyone tell you different, the only people that have never done anything stupid while working on their car, have never done anything more that fill up the gas tank, and a few of those have probably done something stupid also. I don't have all day to type and tell you about the stupid things I have done since I started working on cars over 50 years ago.

            Uh huh.
And I only started working on them 26 years ago.

Another thing you don't do is take paint off your plastic side indicators with paint stripper!!!!!!!!! What was I thinking?? At least I did all 4 at once to save time.

Jack, I sent you a PM on a possible quick fix for this. Let me know if you want to try it.

I build my first flathead F**d engine when I was 14 years old. By the time I got my drivers license, I was overhauling one or two motors a month. Good pocket money, maybe $40.

I can't remember doing anything stupid to mine the past 45 years. When I removed the original carpet and installed the JC Whitney stuff I did so knowing I was "upgrading" the car. When I removed the original soft top fabric and threw it away I did so because I would never need it. When I painted my original paint Venetian Red wheels black I did so to make it look "cool". When I removed the original rubber tubing from the wheels I did so because it really wasn't needed. When my passenger side hood bowden cable broke and I used a wrench from underneath the car to reach the latch and push it open and I crossed the pos. and neg. battery terminals trapping my hand under the wrench I did so because I wanted to see how burning flesh felt. When I forgot to reinstall the front 4BBL return spring I wanted to see how high it would rev before I could stop the car, open the hood and push the linkage forward to idle. When I went a little too deep with a razor blade taking paint off the nose I wanted to see how the hard gel coat was. When I took the hood off and forgot to scribe the hinge position I wanted to see how many weeks it would take to get the original fit back.

I can't remember doing anything stupid while working on the car, and I can't remember why I am writing this.
