    57 racer?

I have a 57 Corvette VIN 6148 that I know was raced at Riverside in the remote past. I don't know if it was ordered as a racer but it would appear so. It was fuel-injected, hardtop only, radio and heater delete. It has the larger diameter front sway bar as well. It has a hole cut in the driver's side inner fender and next to the radiator support but does not have an airbox or ducting to the brakes.
Is there a registry of Corvette racers (either by VIN or driver's name) I could refer to? I'm trying to fill in gaps in the history.

Jim Gessner who posts here would be the ultimate authority on 57s in 57 at Riverside. You might PM him. Good luck!

Billy, do you have finned brake drums and other traces? Any chance you have some pictures to post? Are there signs of inspection stickers?

        'Sounds like an interesting car.

          Re: 57 racer?

          Steve,
No, I have no finned drums. The only other evidence I have is that the fender "scoops" were cut off and there is some shielding over the fuel lines. At least I think it was the fuel lines. It might have been the brake lines. The car has been in storage across the county for years (since the 1980's), so I haven't looked at it a lot lately.
I am finishing restoration of my 54 Vette and plan on doing the 57 next. So I'm getting curious about it again.
I'm about as "technologically challenged" as they come when it comes to computers, etc. SO getting pictures posted will require the expertise of my wife. I'll see what I can do.
          Thanks for your reply.

          Billy

Also I have no inspection stickers either. I do have a receipt (I don't recall if it was a tag receipt or what) that shows a previous owner named David Jess McQueen of Torrance, California and Clovis, New Mexico. I don't know if he was the one who raced it. Maybe he is listed in some SCCA info somewhere or something if anyone has such info.
