    Original horns on a '57

Does anyone have good e-pictures of original '57 horns.....? Also.... what are the part #'s for these items and are these numbers visible when viewing the horns installed in the car?

I realize this information is probably in the newly-updated JG, but I don't have a copy of it at this time..... Thanks

Left horn #760 right #759 and vin 1500 changed to Right #339 and left #340 the bracket holes location are different then a car bracket. If you see a horn laying on the ground all 12V will have a RED plastic insulator while 6V will be WHITE. That's just some trivia

        Gary/Roy....

Now I'm really confused...!! The two sets of horns pictured in each of your replies are considerably different..... I'm looking at a car with a build # of ~3100 and a build date of early April, '57..... Which of these two sets of horns would be correct for this car?

        Thanks for your help.....

Garry, just as Roy's post said "above VIN 1500~" would have the 339/340 style horns which are the photos I posted. Roy's photos are for the 56 and early 57 horns. Recommend you order a 5th Edition 56-7 Judging Manual as it's quite and update and has many photos in it. Gary....

Re: Original horns on a '57

As mentioned, those pictured by Roy are 56-early 57 style.
BUT, just for informational purposes, the horns on 53-54 PASSENGER cars are the same configuration--------------EXCEPT they are 6volt.
I have the 6v pass car horns on my 56 (the appearance is identical to the 12v Vette horns). TRUST ME, when I tap the horn, and put 12v to those 6v horns, it gets peoples' attention!!! I love 'um!

I also have the original 6v horns on my 51 Chevy which has been converted to a 12v system. Same effect!
