    3904391 head on ebay

As I mentioned before, my '66 L72 car came with '67 3904391 heads. One dated G96 (July 9, 1966), the other D17 (April 1, 1967). I tried to sell them in the Driveline as a set. No dice, maybe because the dates are nine months apart. So I've been looking for two singles that match mine to make up two pairs. I found this one on fleabay:

I think it may have oversize exhaust valves installed in it (2.19 intake 1.88 exhaust) according to this:

What size valves originally came with the L71?

    Thanks,
    Joe

2.19" intake and 1.72" exhaust. So, it would appear that only the exhaust size has been increased. This would not cause any problems and no one would ever know the difference. 1969 L-88 and ZL-1 with open chamber heads used the 2.19/1.88" valve sizes as well as all other 1970-71 SHP big blocks, Corvette and non-Corvette, with cast iron or aluminum heads (i.e. L-78 and LS-6)

        Joe,

Thanks very much for the info. The only problem is that I'm pretty sure the mismatched heads I have are 2.19 " intake and 1.72 " exhaust.

          Mike,

Yes, if the price holds that would be a very good price indeed. He did not say he would guarantee no cracks. But the good news is that he is taking it to a machine shop to have it magnafluxed.
