    Convertable Top Rear Bow Weatherstrip

I am planning on replacing the weatherstrip on the Convertable Top where it seals against the rear deck. I ordered the weatherstrip, but htey backordered the rope, how is that weatherstrip attached what is the purpose of the rope? What is the best procedure in replacing this as the car still has its original 1970 top. Today is its 40 birthday.

If memory serves, the assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows the installation of the rear bow weatherstrip. I believe it slides/pushes into the groove in the bow.

Yep, similar to the way that plastic based screen installs on a screened door or add-on frame for a home window cover. The 'rope' makes an interference fit inside the groove on the rear bow. It's a tight PUSH to get 'er in and having a decent tool helps. Tool is similar to a circular pizza cutter...
