    57 headlight Switch

I was just wondering if anyone had an old, half shot headlight switch they would be willing to part with.
I took mine apart to clean it up and restore it as much as possible. When I took the mounting bracket off the spring loaded detent assembly went flying. (very stupid). I looked all over for the parts, even combed the floor and area with a magnet, but came up empty.
The detent assembly is a small 1/8" dia. compression spring, a small metal rod that goes through the spring, and 2 small cup pieces that are the actual detent.
I could by a new repro switch, but I am trying to keep the car as original as possible, plus they are $85, and the whole switch is good except for these little parts I lost. Would be willing to pay for the parts and shipping. -Dan-

    Dan,
I know exactly the parts that you are referring to, BUT, it MAY be possible that those parts interchange with other era GM headlight switches. Say for example a 54 Chevy or a 57 Buick or a 59 Chevy, etc.
MOST GM headlight swithches (even the one in our 70 Chevelle has this spring loaded pin) that I'm familiar with have this similar spring/pin. So, if you know where to locate some old junk GM cars, check 'um out!

Dan, I would try Tom's suggestion first. If you can't find one try Grossmueller's.

      Good Luck!

        Dan,

I think I can help you out. I have (almost) an entire switch in pieces. I'll take a look tonight and let you know.

          Dan,

I'm having problems getting a private message to you.

I have the parts (spring, rod and two caps) and would be happy to send them to you. I just need your mailing address.

          Tom

            Hi Tom,

Thank you very much. I really apreciate this. I don't know why you are having problems PMing me. I have received and sent PMs in the past without any problems. I will try and PM you right now. -Dan-
