My rear end case stamping is too shallow and worn to actually make out. The dates are consistent with the assembly of the car and the case is original to the car. The POP, along with the Dealer Pre-Inspection Sheet, show the stamping to be CFA0709W. That 8 digit number would be July 9 and as described in Alan Colvin's "Corvette by the Numbers" on page 454. However, the last two 70's I've looked at are stamped without the month, and/or day as being preceeded by a zero. In other words, these two were CAM 6 12 70 ...&... CAM 7 1 70. My question is which is originally correct? I'm thinking it should be as shown on my POP but that doesn't seem to be the case with the last two I've looked at.

Based on what I've observed over the years, the stampings WITHOUT the place-holding zeroes are, BY FAR, the most common. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
