    Emergency brake warning light replacement

I'm trying to figure out how to remove/replace the emergency brake warning light on my '57. The bulb holder and red lens are spring loaded and I can push the whole unit approx 1/2' or so out towards the steering wheel, but cannot seem to unsnap it from the rear or otherwise remove it. Can someone provide me with the trick to removal and replacement.
    Thanks
    Gerry

    Gerry,

Keep some pressure on the jewel to keep it from going forward, while lightly pressing in from the rear to compress the spring. Then twist the bulb housing about 45 degrees (ccw, as viewed from the rear if I remember correctly) and it should release.

Thanks Dave - I'm still trying to figure out how to get my hand in there to make that 45 degree turn. When I tried, I could not get enough of a grip to turn it. Anyone have suggestions other than to keep trying?

        Gerry,

There's a pretty good picture of what you are dealing with on this EBay item picture: 400099051447

I think you will be able to see the slots in the picture.

Mine was pretty difficult to remove because of corrosion and rust on the pieces. After cleaning it up, I put some lubricant on it for the future.

Yes, it is kinda tough to get to.

Thanks Dave for the picture reference. This gives me an idea of what I'm working with.
